pleasantly surprised...

today mr. L and i went to the 2010 Quail Hollow Championship
at the Quail Hollow Club.
i had never been to one and i don't play golf so i was pleasantly
surprised that i actually enjoyed watching these
professionals play this game called golf.
we watched anthony kim for a few holes and waited for
the famous tiger woods to come through.
he had a following of hundreds and hundreds so all we
were hoping for was to get a glimpse of him.
much to our surprise, his ball landed a few feet from us
and we were literally 10 feet away from him.
up close and personal.  yup, yup.  oh, how i wish i had my nikky
or even just my phone camera but neither one was allowed.

we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and lunch
provided by the vendor in one of the homes on the golf course.
day 120 flickr project365
and we even had a photo opportunity taken by kodak.

it was a loveLee day
and a great way to start the weekend!

it's strawberry season...

back in elk grove, ca we had strawberry farms/stands
within miles of each other,
we actually had one right around the corner of our house
and we would bike there and buy a few baskets at a time.
i'm thankful that we moved into and area in north carolina
where there are also local fresh strawberries grown.
we overdose on strawberries when the season is here.
we use them for dipping in chocolate and yogurt dip,
we use them to make strawberry-banana-blueberry smoothies
for breakfast and for those warm afternoon days,
we make strawberry trifles,
and
we top our home made belgian waffles with them along with
whip cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup.
yum!
day 119 flickr project365
so go buy those strawberries and enjoy them while
the season is here!

all the kids will be enjoying a nice long summer break
until the new school year starts up again.

i'm still thinking about summer plans.
not too sure what to do or where to go.

how i met my house...

ann nicole is hosting a "how i met my house party".  i'm about 3 days late but i still have a few hours before the party closes.  go check out her site.  there are so many who have joined the party and lots of beautiful homes to look at.

i met my house October of 2006!  to make a long story short, God's providence was definitely evident in uprooting our family and leaving our home state of california to move to north carolina. he moved mountains to get us here and to tell the whole story would be a book of a post so i will just continue with how we met our current home.

anyhoo, mr L. and i flew into charlotte and worked with a realtor i found online.  she took us through so many different homes and different neighborhoods and fell in love with many but it was either over the budget, too far from the school that we wanted our kids to attend, or too far of a commute to mr. L's job.

here were a few requirements in what i was looking for:

1.  a white house with black shutters (just like steve martin's in the movie father of the bride my all time favorite dream home but with a front porch.)
OR
2. a four sided brick house with a porch
a front porch was a requirement so i can have a couple of outdoor rocking chairs.
AND
3. a side load garage
AND
4. a nice size backyard with some mature trees.

well, on the 2nd day of our house hunting adventure our realtor's daughter went into labor so she couldn't bring us around to look at houses so we went driving around ourselves.  we turned into our current neighborhood and loved the community.  there were only 2 homes currently on the market but we both fell in love with this.
day 115 flickr project365
however, it wasn't a white house with black shutters, nor a 4 sided brick house with black shutters but a brick front house with 3 sided hardiplank siding.  we called our realtor and she met us the next day to view the home.  loved everything about it but my most favorite is the black shutters against the brick...
the front porch and the back screened in porch (which was a bonus and not even on my list of requirements)...
and the space for where my 3 teens can bring their friends and hangout which is quite frequent and for extended family when they come to visit.

it's a loveLee of a house but i do look  forward to the time when we can downsize and find a small cottage or bungalow just for the mister and me oh, and maybe for the grandbabies who will be visiting.

her prom...

tonight my guy took his girlfriend to her junior prom.
she looked beautiful in her dress and he looked handsome in his tuxedo.
both moms had their cameras happily snapping away.
snapping for memories and for family members
(grandparents, aunts and uncles)
who are anxiously awaiting to get a glimpse of her with the "boyfriend"
and he with the "girlfriend".

day114 flickr project365
my heart melted, i'm sure her mom's did too.
seeing the two of them,
don't they just look absolutely sweet?
chivalry is not dead...
his dad and i continue to remind him to treat her with utmost
 respect, courtesy and honor.
so there he is opening the door for her to let her in
(quickly glancing to check if the car is clean.)
and off they went to meet their group of friends for group pictures
and for a sweet group dinner.
i'm sure they will have a very loveLee evening.

from my phone...

and on my walk with the doggie!
day 113 flickr project365

i took pictures on my phone today.  it actually didn't turn out too bad at all.  i emailed the pictures to myself, then uploaded it onto picnik to get the polaroid look.  it was a pretty tedious process but i had a little time to spare.  it really would be so much easier if blackberry had the shakeitphoto application that iphone does!  and for those that don't know about this application here is the description.  it's really pretty cool and i so long for an iphone.  maybe one day soon.

chivalry is not dead...

mr. L came home with a bouquet of flowers today.  and no, it's not because we got into a fight and he was trying to make up.  he just sometimes likes to surprise me with them even after 18 years.  it's his way of letting me know i am appreciated and loved.  shortly after he arrived home with my flowers we left for our weekly thursday evening date night (well, at least we try to make it weekly but sometimes other commitments get in the way). anyhoo, back to the flowers isn't he sweet?  i heart fresh flowers in my home.  it's a simple gift but so appreciated.
day 112 flickr project365
and so i placed it right on our foyer table.
and since we're on the subject of fresh flowers.  i thought i would post this pic i found while perusing around.  isn't it loveLee?
photo via pink wallpaper
and i was reminded by miss girly today that it was earth day.  she even told me and mr. L that we needed to walk to our date night restaurant because it was earth day.  and no she wasn't joking.
