such love and great support from church family who helped provide food for our dear friend Kofi's funeral service reception. There was definitely plenty when we thought it may not have been enough. The service was beautiful. His life story was shared, his favorite verses were read and his favorite hymns and worship songs were sung.
Kofi, have a grand and loveLee time dancing and praising our almighty father! We will miss you.

my heart is aching...
way beyond those clouds and clear blue skies
is heaven.
our friend Kofi is suffering no more and is now home
most likely dancing and singing in God's presence.
He was indeed a man after God's own heart.
and an inspiration to me as well as to many others.
He will be greatly missed.
please continue to keep his wife, his 16 year old son, and 9 year old daughter
as they now move on without him in their lives.
oh, how my heart aches....

race for the cure 2010...
with two of my coworkers...
4 out of 5 of us...
with coworkers...
this morning the family and i minus miss bling headed to run "race for the cure". i was running for our dear friend kofi who has been stricken with this awful disease called cancer. he has been in the hospital the past few weeks and was moved to hospice care just this past week. as of late he has fallen into a coma and we are all filled with much sadness as we know he may be slipping away from us but also filled with hope knowing he will be meeting our risen savior and will be in a place where his pain and suffering will be no more.
i do hope that one day there will be a cure for ALL cancer diseases. maybe just maybe...

much sadness...
it's been a sad day today...
quoting a friend who sums up what a lot of us are feeling right now.
"pain, sorrow, penetrating grief and tears mixed with comfort, peace, unexplainable relief and more tears. God is here. God is near. God is on His throne. All things work together for good to those that love God and are called according to his purpose."
praying for you M family.

coming alongside...
last week i shared that we had a friend who is very sick.
it's pretty complicated but the update is that has stage 4 prostate cancer.
it's not good.
the church is stepping up and coming alongside
the M's as they go through the difficult times ahead.
i am so thankful and blessed to be part of a
church filled with people who are loving
and serving them.
please continue keep the M family in your prayers.

life...
our pastor had to share some really difficult news to the congregation today. you see, a church member and friend who is loved by all is really, really sick. lots of tears were shed as the news was announced. it was a shock and a surprise to many of us.
my heart is aching especially for the kids who have to see their father in so much pain and ask that if you are the praying type, i'm sure the M family could use your prayers right now. we will hear more about his condition tomorrow.

if you have not yet read the book or watched the movie the blind side you should! it is now one of my favorite movies and the story of Michael Oher and the family who adopted him has become one of the most talked about true stories of our time. so now, the remarkable couple leigh anne and sean tuohy featured in the blind side tell their own deeply inspiring story in their own way and with their own words in this book In a Hearbeat... i guess you know what i'll be doing after i wrap up this post...heading for bed and grabbing the book that's on my nightstand.

worked on august through october family calendar; well as much as i could anyways....
made a creamy corn salad for tonight's lifegroup once a month summer get-together...
enjoyed miss b tell us about her trip to haiti...
had a cup of joe whilst chatting in the family room getting caught up in each other's lives.
as we sat there, i smiled, we're a good bunch...

my heart in two places...
we're home, home... in north carolina. and i have to say it was an amazing week! our trip back to california outdid all of my expectations. it's always so good to go home and the wonderful thing about it is that each year when we go back it's as if we never left. so for 9 whole days, we made memories, we visited, we laughed, we ate, ate and ate with family and friends.
i miss it. i miss the smell of my mom and dad's house, i miss mystras circle, i miss our swimming pool, i miss having easy access to the wide variety of ethnic foods when i'm craving it, i miss being a drive away from san francisco and southern california, i miss the dry heat, and i miss the comfort of knowing everyone i love, everyone i'm close to, is there.
but things change, people grow and life has different seasons. so what happens when your heart is in two places you call home? i just have to remember and to remind my kids is that it's ok to get homesick. it's ok to feel nostalgic, and it's ok to miss all those that we love. God has a specific plan for our family and moving to north carolina was one of them. He's provided a wonderful community of friends through church, school, neighbors and family close by. i am blessed!
as they say home is where the heart is and my heart will always have two homes and that's ok, i have a big heart. there's definitely room for sharing.
