washington dc...

day 169 flickr project365

we got started bright and early this morning.  after we had a special breakfast with someone special (which i will save for another post),  a great metro experience into and out of D.C. (the gentleman below in the pic gave us a personal tutoring session on the metro system.)
a visit to the natural history museum,
  national gallery of arts,
the american history museum,
(michelle obama's gown)
the U.S. capitol building, the washington monument,
the white house
and 6 hours of walking we were done for the day.   we had a great time and i believe we covered everything we wanted to in those 6 hours.  i am proud of my mom.  she was definitely a trooper with her knees not as strong as they use to be in her younger years she managed to keep up!

Looks like so much fun but how can you top your special morning? LOL. Glad you were able to maneuver the metro. It could get tricky. You got to see so many museums in one day! That's ALOT of walking so kudos to your mom. Did you see the giant squid exhibit? Those are my all time fave!

I love Washington the Smithsonian .... I grew up around there and that elephant at the Natural History Museum was a special friend. I go back about once every 10 years -- I think it's time to go again!

Looks like you hit all the hot spots of DC! Love that city :-) Hope you're recovered from all that walking and ready to enjoy another day of vacation.~

I am sorry I missed you before you left. I have been so busy with the swim team. I have never been to D.C. and would love to go some day. Have a wonderful time all the way to Maine. Love you girlfriend. Christine
