the magic recipe...

ok, it's been a while since we had filipino food in this house.  so today i decided to make adobo a very popular filipino dish and it's the kids and mr. L's favorite.  unfortunantly, in times past it's always been a FAIL...it never comes out like my moms or as the kids would say "it's doesn't taste as good as lola's". today i found a recipe online and thought i would give it a try.  well, i have to admit, i thought it was pretty good if i had to say so myself and i was right because the kids had seconds and mr. L even said this tastes just like your moms : ).  scored!  i found the magic recipe!  so if any of you are interested, here's the recipe:  

ingredients:

1 pound of pork cut into bite sized cubes

1/2 cup of white vinegar

1 head garlic, finely chopped (i put an extra few cloves)

3 pcs. of bay leaves

1/3 cup soy sauce

1 cup water

1 teaspoon peppercorn

how to make it:

with a little oil brown pork in a heavy skillet

ad vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorn and water.

bring to a boil, simmer for 20 minutes

when the juice is absorbed just add another cup of water.

cover and let simmer until pork becomes tender.

serve over rice.

it was homecoming night for my guy and miss bling...

it's late and i'm just a tad bit on the tired side tonight

it's my friday...

today i felt like i was in the car all day running to and fro. towards my last run i realized i hadn't taken a picture yet.  (i think that's twice or three times this week that i almost forgot.)  anyhoo, here's what the car looked like...stuff from target and dinner on the run from chick fil a!

BUT i'm thankful, it's my friday today!  busy day ahead for me tomorrow.  homecoming day/night for the kids...both my guy and miss bling are on homecoming court ...we forgot to order the boutinerre and corsage for their partners so i'll be off doing that tomorrow as well as picking up balloons for miss bling and the cheerleading squad to release on the field during the banner break through.  so as you can just imagine, i'll be snapping away pictures as always!

so random...

it was quite a busy monday that i almost forgot to take a picture today.  ok, so this was dinner folks!  i really, really didn't feel like cooking but i ended up using what we had in the refrigerator and pantry.

and the menu for tonight's mash-up:

• grilled chicken with garlic seasoning
• rice pilaf 
• bow tie pasta with pesto sauce
• assorted veggies with cheese sauce

last week i shared that we had a friend who is very sick.

it's pretty complicated but the update is that has stage 4 prostate cancer.

it's not good.

the church is stepping up and coming alongside

the M's as they go through the difficult times ahead.

i am so thankful and blessed to be part of a 

church filled with people who are loving

 and serving them.

please continue keep the M family in your prayers.

i drove the girls very early this morning...

we left at 5:45 a.m. to get their by 6:00 a.m.!

the cheer group organized and held a yard sale.

it's a fundraiser to help pay their fee for their cheer competition.

they ended up raising $200.00!

all packed and ready to go...

miss girly is all packed up and ready to go on their 7th grade class trip.  2 nights and 3 days!  she and her dad will be heading out bright and early.  she needs to be at school by 6:30 a.m.. but before that they will be making a stop at chick fil a for breakfast.

she'll be back friday early evening!
