pin it forward: what home means to me...

i am thrilled to be participating, along with 300 other bloggers in pin it forward mash up organized by victoria's aka sfgirlbybay and pininterest a visual bookmarking site! the theme is "what home means to you" and over the next few weeks the 300 other bloggers will share their photos and thoughts of what home means to them.

here's my take on home...
i grew up, got married and lived in the sf bay area for most of my life, moved up to the state capitol with my family and lived there for almost a decade so therefore i will always be a california girl at heart and...

but four years ago God led us to leave the only home i've ever known, and with much prayer, trust, faith, we uprooted our three kids away from our much loved family and friends and moved 2726.53 miles away. but thankfully blessed to have my sister less than 2 miles away (that's God's providence).

where i have learned to embrace southern living.  sweet tea, biscuits, pulled bbq pork, southern terms/lingo etc.

then there is the actual physical home where my family and i live
(the pictures are from different sources on the internet, not my actual home)
but i try my best to make my home

but home is ultimately...

i didn't get a chance to create my board on pinterest because they are working on some kinks and it didn't allow me to register.  i'm eagerly waiting for them to get things worked out so i can start creating my own board.

in the meantime please visit jessica @ jessica torres photography to view yesterday's post on what home means to her.

and for tomorrow's post please visit the loveLee piper @ one sidney road for her take on what home means to her.

have a loveLee monday!

oh wow... i have to check out pinterest sometime! i've been wanting to make some boards.

okay, your home is stunningly beautiful!

i feel closer to cali girls... especially ones that moved away like i did. we can share in the same bittersweet feelings of missing home. yet, i really am learning how to embrace the south for it's own beauty rather than comparing it to cali. it's helping me to bloom where i'm planted! : )

it's beautiful to see how the Lord directs our paths!

Hey Alely, this is Ben from Pinterest. I'm sending along one more invite. Let me know if it works for you - I'm really excited to get you pinning soon :D

Your post is just beautiful, and I'm glad to hear that your new home in NC has treated you well. Having moved to SF from the midwest, I can say that I love the bay but I'd trade sushi and cappuccinos for sweet tea and bbq pork!

I am glad you are making the most of your new home. I know how hard it is to leave your hometown, but isn't it so much fun discovering new things? I loved it. Hopefully someday we'll have the opportunity to move to a new place. Maybe when we retire. :)

This is a wonderful sampling of what makes your life special. I can imagine what a drastic change it was to move from CA to NC. It just goes to show that home really is where the heart is, and how you've made your new home just that.

Thank you so much for sharing this part of yourself. It was lovely to meet you.
