rosemary...

rosemary is an herb that is a member of the mint family and can be used for both culinary and cosmetic purposes.  the plant is itself is loveLee to look at and the aroma of the herb is intoxicating.  rosemary doesn't lose its flavor when heated, making it versatile and easy to cook with.  my rosemary bushes in the backyard are growing abundantly, which makes for a plentiful supply.

on tomatom.com they give you ideas on 14 things you can do with rosemary, here they are:

1. Par-cooked new potatoes roasted in the oven with rosemary and olive oil
2. Lamb roasted with rosemary and salted anchovies
3. Any kind of lamb barbequed with loads of rosemary
4. Rosemary stems stripped of leaves used as kebabs on the barbeque. Spear any cubes of meat or fish
5. Pizza, or any fat bread for that matter, topped with Rosemary, olive oil, thinly sliced potatoes (perhaps from 1, above) and sprinkled with Murray River salt flakes
6. In herb butter. Mash butter with rosemary and whatever herbs you feel like. Roll into a sausage in plastic wrap. Slice and use immediately or freeze. Top griddled meat or fish with slices of the butter.
7. Monk fish roasted with rosemary and panacetta
8. Grilled tuna with rosemary
9. Rosemary pesto
10. In scones and dumplings
11. With pork
12. With fava beans or whatever beans you can lay your hands on.
13. Rosemary truffles (from Monsieur Truffe)
14. Rosemary and bay leaf savoury custard
15 Er, that’s it for now.

Oooh, I love the rosemary in the glass jars. Sooo pretty. How wonderful to grow things in your own garden. I am not that talented, although we did have tomatoes and strawberries last year...

The best thing about both rosemary and mint are they are virtually impossible to kill and grow like weeds!
