the traditional chinese calendar ends with a lantern festival which is on the 15th day. nowadays, paper lanterns are displayed to add a festive touch to home and businesses celebrating the start of the lunar new year. this is evident in most chinese-american communities.
children receive candy and money in red paper envelopes. of course, the one thing my kids look forward to about chinese new year!being that hubby is chinese-american, we'll do a dinner with a couple of chinese dishes within the 15 days and of course, give the kids their red envelopes!
happy chinese new year & happy friday friends!
