we enjoyed our visit to wilmington.  it's a charming little city with historical buildings and homes, nice beaches,  it's home to the battleship north carolina and it's where tv shows dawson's creek and one tree hill were filmed.  it was a great weekend but what i enjoyed most was spending quality time with my family the "party of 5".  i hope your weekend was just as loveLee.

this morning we drove through wrightsville beach first but it was pretty crowded and there was not one available parking space so we drove to carolina beach instead to find a great parking spot and a much less crowded beach. The weather was perfect! which made beach time comfortable. tomorrow we head back home. boo sauce!

and we are in wilmington, nc!  this is a picture of a battleship.  today we walked through old historic wilmington, visited unc wilmington, and did some shopping.  tomorrow we will hit the free breakfast buffet in the hotel, head to wrightsville beach for most of the day, and hopefully end the day with a nice dinner out.

last time...

today was the last time some of them will be seeing their friend chinny.  he's the guy in the black t-shirt and he's one of my son's best friends, a really great kid.  even i'm gonna miss seeing and having him around.  he's moving to chicago and they are all pretty bummed.  this photo was taken before they went to eat their last meal together with him.

he will certainly be missed.  lots of hugs and lots of tears were shed.  it's always so hard to say goodbye.

it was made with love especially for me by my co-workee miss a.  i just think it's the cutest thing ever!  she gave it to me today because it was my last day at work!!!! woot! woot!  i will be off for the next 7 weeks.  i'm looking foward to going to the beach this weekend, having family and friends visit starting next week, and a road trip up to maine.  yup, yup...lots to do.  never enough time.  in the blink of an eye the 7 weeks will be done and i'll be back to work.

i was at trader joe's the other day picking up my usual staples of tj supplies.  they had these brownie truffles as samples for trying and as hard as i tried to stay away i had no will power.  i made my way to try a sample and of course loved it!  i picked up a box and made it for dessert tonight.

i love lots of walnuts in my brownies.  miss girly is allergic to walnuts so i made her a few mini muffin size pieces without them.  if you are a brownie lover you should pick up a box at trader joe's the next time you go!  it's really yummy!

mornings...

i am a homebody and i enjoy just being home.  i keep myself busy at home by doing chores i like and dislike ie: cleaning, organizing things in the home, crafting, decorating, moving furniture, blogging, cooking (even though it's my least favorite thing to do) etc.  so i've decided to start a series called mornings and evenings inspired by the book.   i might write about it or i might just let the pictures tell you. i don't know if it will be something i will do randomly, weekly or never again. we'll just have to see.  i just thought it would be a fun series.

anyhoo, monday mornings are normally not loveLee.  it usually takes me a little longer to get up and out of bed which then results in being behind in all that i have to do.  this morning was a mess with piles of dishes that needed to be washed. my preference would have been to get the dishes done before going to work but there was no time for that so i had to leave it for after work.  i don't enjoy coming home to a sink full of dirty dishes.  it's just a pet peeve of mine and because it's my pet peeve i normally try to do them before i leave. but that did not happen this monday.

dear weekend...

dear weekend, it was a great one! friday was a nice relaxing night.  miss bling reunited with a couple of old friends at a local starbucks, miss girly had a friend over, my guy watched a movie with a friend.  saturday was a mixed weather day.  sunny, rainy, sunny...miss girly had her last basketball game of the spring season and had a moment of hyperventilation during the game.  she's fine. i enjoyed lengthy conversations with my cousin, aunt and uncle. later in the evening we attended the winter/spring sports banquet at school for my guy and were pleasantly surprised he received a trophy for most improved and dependable for the jv basketball team.  sunday we served in the children's ministry and played with the little toddlers. we all went costco shopping, i took my sunday afternoon nap and ended the day and weekend by meeting with our fellow lifegroupies!

a fun photo shoot...

miss girly and friend, miss L went shopping and bought matching dresses.  miss L spent the night and this morning they both got up, fixed each others hair, put their dresses on and asked if i could shoot some pictures.  of course, the wanna be photographer that i am, jumped at the offer!  here's how they turned out all with different types of photo editing.

the big four-oh..

it's about time! it's my sister's birthday today and we are both now in our 40's!  

i am reposting this pic because it's our most recent picture together.

and she is actually on her way back home from a trip with her family.  i thought i would surprise her and make her some carrot cake cupcakes.  i'm almost positive that this is one of her favorite cake flavors.

spring mix...

i've been eating my favorite salad this past week, almost everyday because when you buy a box of spring mix from costco you get a lot, therefore, you must eat a lot of it before it goes bad.  the kids and mr. L don't like the spring mix, they are romaine/iceberg kind of peeps.  anyhoo, so i've been taking this to work for lunch and i've been eating it for dinner.

super  yummy, simple and easy...ingredients include:  spring mix package, grape tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, toasted pecans and fat free raspberry-pecan vinegarette dressing.
