Model Home Auction

Yesterday Nelson and I went to a preview of  model home furniture and accessories that's going up for auction.  I found a number of things I would love to bid on and would love to put in my home but things are a little tight in the budget these days, so browsing for fun was what we did.

Just a few accessories up for auction

Love this chair and it would go perfect in my family room :-).

These model home auctions come through all the time so I am hoping that next time I will be in a position to bid on a few things.

"See You at the Pole"

This year’s See You at the Pole theme is very simple—ENGAGE: Go and Pray . . .
GO to your school flagpole on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 a.m., and PRAY for your friends, family, school, community and the world.
This year’s See You at the Pole™ challenge is simple:
ENGAGE your school
ENGAGE your community
ENGAGE your world . . . for His glory!
See You at the Pole™ is a great place to
ENGAGE God,
ENGAGE with other believers, and
ENGAGE His heart for your campus . . . in the name of Christ.
See You at the Pole connects believers together at the beginning of the school year, so you can stand strong together throughout the year.
See You at the Pole is all about prayer. It’s about you coming together and laying aside all of the labels and groups for one day, to simply engage with God in prayer and connect with fellow Christians in unity around the flag pole.
This is what our morning looked like around the pole. To God be the Glory!

"First Day of Fall"

Yay, my favorite season of the year! I love fall and everything about what it brings....the beautiful and vibrant colors of the leaves, apple pies, pumpkin pies, mums, the coolness in the breeze.  Fall here in North Carolina is amazing.  Where I came from in California we really didn't experience the fall colors like we do here and I that's why I get so excited when fall is around the corner.  I get to experience the beauty again...going on fall season #3 for me and my family, here in NC.

Wall Words

A friend told me that they had some wall expression stickers at the Dollar Tree...Yes, the Dollar Tree. I went to check it out, found two that I liked, and put them up.
"God Bless Our Home"

"Friends are the flowers that bloom in life's garden"

I'm glad I found a home for my $1.00 wall word expressions.  On a side note, the desk in this pictures was FREE given to me by a very good friend back in Elk Grove, CA.  The great story about this piece was that everytime my family and I visited with my friend I always admired this desk.  She never knew that and one day when we were visiting she happened to tell me she was getting rid of this at a garage sale.  At that point, I told her I would take it for a price but she wouldn't take anything for it and so I happily put it in my car and drove it to its new home.

lovin' my new mailbox flag

I went to Charlotte's Southern Women's Show with a friend and had a great time. I have been wanting a new flag for my mailbox and as I perused through the aisles I bumped into a booth that sold flags and found two I fell in love with.  If you know me, I am a very fickle person and can never make a decision.  Thankfully, they did not have the letter "L" in the other flag, so I didn't have to make a choice because I would have been at that booth forever!
From the looks of my mailbox post, I may have another little project that I need to put on my list of things to do...PAINT!

Earthshine, Brevard NC

Maddie went on her very first away from home, 2 night/3day trip to Earthshine an outdoor education center with her 6th grade class.  Earthshine Mountain Lodge is located south of Asheville, NC near Brevard.  She had an amazing time getting to know all the other girls in her 6th grade class along with the staff members that chaperoned the trip.  I'm glad she's home safe and sound.

Up goes the Fall Wreath

I just couldn't wait any longer. I had to put up my fall wreath today!  I made this wreath last year.  I bought a grapevine wreath from Michael's with my 50% off coupon, bought a fall garland, wrapped and hot glued it around the wreath.  All for less than $15.00!

Below is a fall wreath that costs double what I paid to make mine. It surely doesn't fit in my thrifty budget category.  Mine could use a few more pumpkins in it and if I happen to stumble across some at Michael's Arts and Crafts whilst on sale, I may just pick some up and add them to my wreath!

Our Adopt-a-Dog-niversary!

Mei-Mei with her gift bag and her birthday dinner..."filet mignon".

Mei-Mei praying :-)
Today, September 13, 2009 marks our 1 year adopta-dog-niversary day with Mei-Mei and since she was a rescue dog the foster mom told us she was about 4 years old at the time of adoption. We decided that September 13 will mark her future birthdays as well. Today Mei-Mei is 5 years old! She is the sweetest dog and she is spoiled and loved by all of us.

More on football fun 09!

We are having a lot of fun going to UA's games! Tonight Nelson was not the video man but he was out on the field helping out the injured. All of the school activities we are involved in helps bring down the 60 hours of the family volunteer hours which needs to be completed by the end of the year. It's wonderful just to be around all of these kids and we enjoy every minute of it!
